A Little Stay at a KOA

We made it to Texarkana the first day and this was the first time for us to stay in a KOA park. Now I didn't even get the name of it but it was nice and was only $35 a night. The spaces were pretty large and you can see, each had a little picnic table.
Little Chloe Dawn came along with us and she does enjoy these Kiki trips.
Poor little thing. She looks a little pitiful. The move from our big house to the little condo was very stressful for her and she scratched and scratched and got the hair on her little legs all matted. I couldn't brush it out and the groomer couldn't either. She called and asked would I mind if she just cut Chloe Dawn close? I told her to go ahead. George says he thought Chloe was embarrassed with all of her little hair gone. I thought she probably felt good.
Anyway, it was a beautiful late afternoon under the pine trees.
There was a swimming pool and you can see, there weren't many campers. This was June 1.
I cooked our dinner that night in Kiki. I have a little toaster oven that bakes so I cooked up some little biscuits (Grands from a can), sausage and eggs! I just love breakfast for dinner sometimes.
We took our bikes and poodled around the park a little bit.

I wanted to show you this snap again. I'll bet you thought that was Kiki! Well, it isn't. This was our neighbor's Kiki. They had bought a work van Kiki and the man designed the inside himself. I wanted to take pictures but was a little embarrassed to ask. You can't walk back into the rv interior through the cab like ours but have to be stopped and walk out and then inside. He had gotten these nice industrial looking tool boxes and built cabinets and a nice sized closet. The bed area was at the back like ours but turned the other way so if the person sleeping against the back door needed to get up during the night - you'd have to climb over the person next to you. I wouldn't like that. And...there was no potty! I wouldn't like that either. You know we all need to get up during the night.
Anyway, our neighbors were very nice folks and they brought out their chairs and we visited for a long time. Guess where they were from? Houston! It's a small world, y'all!

Happy trails,
Shelia ;)

A Stop At Buc-ee's

We were going to take Kiki on a trip to Branson, Missouri and our first stop was at the new Buc-ee's in Texas City to gas up! If you're familiar with Buc-ee's you'll know how much more less expensive the price of gas is here. They do not have a big marquee with their gas prices on it on purpose so you'll stop by to check. If you drive up for gas you just have to go inside! They have our number, y'all!

Now Kiki uses diesel and just look below at much it was a gallon!
Kiki was sucking up that diesel just like I suck up my diet Cherry Dr. Pepper! I'm tellin' ya!
Of course we always have to go inside of Buc-ee's. Let me show you around.

They have everything your little traveling heart could desire and always a free sample of goodness for you. This day it was a lemon poundcake bite!
Aren't these the cutest little bar-b-que pits?
This just happens to be my favorite stop in Buc-ee's - the fudge counter. They make so many flavors and you can get a free sample. Let me tell you - this fudge is the best you'll ever put into your mouth! It is creamy and rich and soft and just melts in your mouth and then you want some more!
Oh, I love these too and always have to pick up a little bag - Beaver Nuggets! These are so good and are little sweet corn puffs! Have you figured out I love sweets? :)
Souvenirs, things for your home - just everything!
We were just about to walk out the door and we spied this - little bar-b-que grills! We had a little dinky one for Kiki but the wind could blow it away in a second. This one was sturdy and just the right size so we bought it and it fit perfectly in Kiki. My mouth was watering just thinking about what George would grill for us on this new grill!

Well, we're gassed up, got our goodies so it's time to hop into Kiki, fasten our seat belts and head out!

Happy trails,
Shelia ;)

A Little Trip to H-town!

Hi y'all! I haven't posted in quite a while here. If you follow me on my other blog, Note Songs, you know we've sold our large home and have moved into our tiny little condo. Well, we had neglected Kiki and thought we would take her on a little day trip to H-town. That's Houston to you non-Texans :).
Hubby never puts Kiki away in her house unless she is sparkling clean. So when he brought her out she was so pretty and ready to go!
It was almost lunchtime so we popped into one of our favorites restaurants - Qin Dynasty off of Buffalo Speedway.
The parking lot was full and I just wanted you to see how well Kiki fits wherever we take her.
This is a lovely place and the service is wonderful. And the food...
This is our favorite dish on the menu - sesame chicken! Oh, Lord, this stuff is so delicious! We start out with hot and sour soup with crunchy noodles then this dish. I love the fried rice and an egg roll. The sauce is just perfect and the price is unbelievable - less than $8 and we always share an order because they give you so much.
I'm looking a little worn out but I do try to snap in a bathroom every chance I get! :)
After lunch, Kiki was enjoying a little stroll through the streets of H-town.

Then we came upon this unique little ride called the Pedal Party! They were having fun and smiled and waved when I whipped out my camera! :)
Our final destination for the day - good ole Costco! Even living in a small condo, we have to go to Costco occasionally for some goodies!

Hope you'll come back as I have a 'real' trip in Kiki coming up!

Happy trails,
Shelia :)
